Damn that was good, I especially love how unpredictable the drums are; almost, if not like an odd time signature or polyrythm

The drum pattern is trippy and it's easy to get lost counting that while keeping track of the chord changes. But it's in 4/4 roughly 95bpm

It sounds amazing and that's what matters, to me anyways :)

Casper responds:

I tried focusing more on making it sound good than making sure its 3/4 haha, thanks for the review

Cool 3/4 groove :)

Sounds like Key of C minor
Chord progression : Cm add9, Gm

Some notes were out of time but that happens when you're improving and really in the moment. He was really having the feels when he played it, I've been there lol.

I guess my next lofi is gonna be in 3/4 hehe

Quarl responds:

The slightly off beat vibe was intentional. I layered those additional piano melodies on top of their chords so please don't blame Ketyri for that. Rubato is a romantic technique, Italian for "robbed time." I like the drunken jam feeling that a slightly offbeat melody creates. Programing music in perfect tempo is great and all, but tempo can be an emotive creative tool as much as pitch or harmony can be. There arn't any automation lanes on the BPM but that can be a great way to stretch time.

Drummers can perform emotively using velocity and rubato to create tension. I might have created too much tension in this :p

What Quarl said haha

First off, great compostition, I really loved the track especially that revving engine sound <3

Honestly, I don't really know much about music production but I'll try to give some tips.
So like Quarl mentioned, it has a 4/4 feel to it, I think it's because you tried composing like you normally do, so even though you have 3/4 in mind your ears will naturally gravitate towards that 4/4 rythm that everyone's so used to cuz it just feels complete.

Here's what I recommend to get outside that way of thinking about rythms:

- you need to restrict yourself. Set the time signature in FL Studio to 3/4 and follow the grid religiously.

- Create a drum track that loops perfectly in 3/4. If you need help you can yoink the drum pattern in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWyjpSVy2PI) and also set your bpm accordingly. Once you get used to the 3/4 feeling it'll be easier to come up with your own drum beats in the future.

- Create a chord progression. Using 4 or 8 bars depending on your loop, add a chord for each bar.

- Create a simple melody using ONLY 2-4 notes per bar. If it sounds nice then tweak the melody some more and maybe add more notes. And repeat this process.

Also, look up music in 3/4 for more inspiration. :)

Thanks for the tips, i'll try this again today if i can come up with some ideas for the chords and the melody lol

😮 Very interesting sound, I feel like full on dubstep should have taken the lead in one of the bars. It's such a good set up for dubstep I think. Great track!

Quarl responds:

Those dubstep kids scare me a little. If I start summoning them, then I have to feed them all D:

Awesom track! gave me some luke cage vibes ☺

Casper responds:

Thanks:)

So soothing, gonna use this as a reference for my next chill song.
Nice work! :)

I iii progression, nice! I Also really love the sound and groove of the drums. and that synth solo was sick, I gotta learn how to slide like that hehe.
Amazing track! :)

Quarl responds:

I remember switching from GarageBand in highschool to Reason in Uni thinking "damn these Propellerhead synthesizers can be pitch bent forever."

I like to play video games and chew bubble gum.. and I'm all out of gum.. and video games 😑
